Big Trucks And Golf, What More Do You Need?

Last year, Make-A-Wish Connecticut's "Wishes On Wheels" raised more than $90,000 to grant more than 10 wishes to children with critical illnesses. This year's event, on Sunday, Sept. 14, will aim to do just as well.

The Truck Convoy, now in its 15th year, has become an annual tradition that can't be missed. Many of the truck drivers volunteer to have wish families ride along with them during the convoy. The event starts at 9 a.m. at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. The trucks pull away from the stadium at 9:30 a.m. Make-A-Wish families are invited to join the Truck Convoy and enjoy activities, prize drawings and a carnival-like atmosphere.

The Truck Convoy is done at 10:30 a.m., but that's when more fun starts. There will be entertainment from Done Mama Proud and branded, a trophy ceremony and a visit from "Thrasher" the monster truck. There will be a Harley-Davidson raffle to wrap up the event at 3 p.m.
