Attend Wish Gala and Swish Night To Help Massachusetts, R.I. Kids

March 4, 2015

Early April in Massachusetts is more than just Patriot's Day and the Boston Marathon. For Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, it offers an opportunity to go to two great events that will help raise the necessary money to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Swish Night, April 4

Swish Night, An Evening Of Wishes and College Basketball, is an opportunity to watch the national college basketball semifinals on Saturday night, April 4, at the Longmeadow Country Club (400 Shaker Road in Longmeadow). The event gives you the chance to watch championship college basketball on big-screen televisions, sample different food stations and take part in an auction that helps celebrate the joy of children's wishes provided by Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The event runs from 7-11 p.m. and the attire is country club casual – collared shirts and no jeans.

Whether you put a few bucks into a pool, make educated picks or just choose teams based on uniform colors or nicknames, Swish Night gives you an opportunity to watch the game and cheer on your team. Or at least cheer on a successful bracket. Not only can you get together with friends, you can help raise money for Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island at the same time.

Last year's event raised more than $120,000 – enough to fund 16 wishes. Wish Kid Leon Gaumond III, whose wish for DJ equipment was granted, used that equipment to provide music at the event. Leon's father was the featured speaker at the event, sharing his son's journey and talking about the joy that having a wish fulfilled provided.

Make-A-Wish Gala, April 11

The Annual Gala is the signature fundraising event for Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island, celebrating its mission through powerful stories of children in our community who have been touched by a life-changing wish experience. The 2014 gala was so successful, it helped grant the wish of more than 100 children with critical illnesses.
