Walk For Wishes And Help San Diego-Area Kids

March 25, 2015

What’s better than a long walk on a beautiful San Diego morning? When you get to help kids with a dream in the process! Make-A-Wish San Diego’s Walk For Wishes takes place on Saturday, April 25, at Embarcadero Marina South. All of the proceeds from the walk will benefit Make-A-Wish San Diego, and the money raised will help pay for the wishes of children with critical illnesses.

Make A Difference In Your Community

Participating in the Walk For Wishes allows you to personally make a difference in the community in which you live. Participation in Walk For Wishes is free for all walkers, and you're encouraged to raise money by collecting donations from friends, family and co-workers to help Make-A-Wish San Diego. This year's goal is to raise $200,000, which will help grant about 20 wishes. If you raise at least $100, you get a commemorative event t-shirt, and raising at least $500 earns you a reusable Make-A-Wish shopping bag.

If you are participating as part of a team, there are perks for you as well. If your team raises at least $5,000, your team gets a 10-foot by 10-foot tent to use onsite at the event.

See Spectacular Sights

Walk For Wishes is a family-friendly event that covers a 3-mile course that goes around the spectacular San Diego Harbor. Walkers will see spectacular views of the San Diego Harbor, Seaport Village, the Coronado Bay Bridge, and Downtown San Diego. The entire route is on a designated flat pedestrian path and is wheelchair friendly.

Register Online Today

You can register online as an individual or as part of a team in advance. In-person registration at the event is from 7-8 a.m. The walk begins at 8 a.m. Following the walk, there will be music, snacks and games for the participants. If you can't attend, you can make a general donation to support the event, or sponsor a walker who is taking part.

When you Walk For Wishes, you will feel great about bringing joy and hope to a local child. Wish Kids also attend and they will get so much joy from seeing how many caring, supportive people are there walking for them!

Everyone Can Help Grant Wishes

If you can’t attend the San Diego Walk For Wishes but still want to help them grant wishes this year, there are many other ways for you to contribute! Make-A-Wish San Diego can benefit from you donating unused airline miles to their Wishes in Flight program, making a general donation, or donating your unwanted car through our car donation program, Wheels For Wishes.

Donate Your Car To Grant Wishes

Wheels For Wishes, benefiting Make-A-Wish San Diego, is a great way to get rid of an unneeded car while also supporting a great cause. We accept most makes, models and types of vehicles regardless of condition, including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and RVs. When you donate your vehicle, you can take pride in the knowledge that you are helping children in San Diego, Escondido, Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Oceanside, and throughout San Diego and Imperial counties.

Instead of having an unwanted vehicle take up space in your life, donate it to Wheels For Wishes by calling 1-855-278-9474 or filling out a donation form online. Both methods only take a moment of your time. In return for your donation, you receive the maximum possible tax deduction as well as free pick-up or towing of your vehicle. The best result of your donation is that it will help grant the wish of a San Diego or Imperial County child!
