Wisconsin Wishes Granted By Walking

August 23, 2016

Make-A-Wish Wisconsin is walking for wishes this September. Appleton and Madison are hosting two fun-filled Walk For Wishes events. Walking For Wishes means experiencing a day of fun and exercise while simultaneously raising important funds to grant wishes for local children with critical illnesses. See which of these events fits best with you, and help to grant wishes!

Walk For Wishes Northeast Wisconsin

On Sept. 10, walk on over to Thrivent Financial (4321 N. Ballard Rd., Appleton, Wis.) for Walk For Wishes in Northeast Wisconsin. This event features a 5k run or one mile walk, depending on preference, and other fun activities.

Registration is free, but it is important for each participant to raise funds through pledges! The more pledges raised, the more life-changing wishes come true! With over 500 Wisconsin children diagnosed with critical illnesses this year alone, your participation in this fun day can help make a positive impact in their lives. The fun-filled schedule of the day is as follows:

  • Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
  • The kids’ dash starts at 9:15.
  • Opening ceremonies for the 5k run and one mile walk commence at 9:30.
  • Following the ceremony, the run will start at 9:55.
  • Shortly after, the walk will begin at 10.
  • Post-event fun activities will start at 11.

Walk For Wishes Madison

Walk For Wishes in Madison will be hosted at Mckee Farms Park (2930 Chapel Valley Rd., Fitchburg, Wis.) on Sept. 18. This event features fantastic fun for all participants. A 5k run, two-mile walk, wheelchair race, kids’ dash and fun activities are all on the agenda.

Like the other Walk For Wishes event, registration is free, and participants are encouraged to get together with family, friends and coworkers to raise pledges. Just by participating in the fundraising event, local children will have hope, strength and joy restored in their lives. Here is the schedule for the day’s family fun:

  • Registration will open at 8:30 a.m.
  • An hour later, the opening ceremonies will mark the commencement of the races.
  • The walk and run will both begin at 10.
  • At 11, the kids’ dash will go underway.
  • At 11:30, enjoy the post-event festivities with your friends and family.

How To Grant Wishes For All 500 Kids

As previously mentioned, 500 children will be diagnosed with critical illnesses this year in Wisconsin. These two events are a great way to make a dent in this significant number, but it won’t be enough to grant wishes to all 500 kids. An easy way to give more to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin is to donate any unwanted or unused vehicle or trailer you may have to Wheels For Wishes.

Wheels For Wishes is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit car donation organization that offers a great tax deduction and free towing upon your donation. If you and your walk team also donate a vehicle to Wheels For Wishes in addition to your pledges, you will have a significant impact on the lives of local children in need.

Donate today by calling 1-855-278-9474 or by filling out a car donation form. Your generous donation will be an important step to granting all 500 wishes!
