2016 Seattle Walk For Wishes

August 20, 2016

A great way to help Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington is right around the corner. On Sept. 10, don't miss the 2016 Walk For Wishes in the Seattle area. Nationwide, Walk For Wishes has raised enough money to grant more than 270,000 wishes. In Washington, you can attend the walk to help your local Make-A-Wish grant more wishes right in your state.

Walk For Wishes Details

The 2016 Walk For Wishes takes place Sept. 10 in Marymoor Park (6046 West Lake Sammamish Pkwy NE) in Redmond. The day begins with registration at 8:45 a.m., followed by the walk at 9:30. Post-walk festivities will wrap up around noon.

The walk will be a leisurely 5k route that's perfect for everyone in the family, including the dog. Better yet, registration is completely free for all participants. Parking at the event is free as well. Everyone is encouraged to go above and beyond by setting a personal fundraising goal to help make the walk a success. Not only will this help grant wishes, it will also give you the chance to earn fun incentives.

Those who raise more than $100 by Aug. 26 will receive a t-shirt guaranteed to be the right size. The top fundraising corporate teams and friend and family teams will receive a commemorative Walk For Wishes trophy and a special delivery of Auntie Anne's pretzels. The top individual fundraiser will be awarded two roundtrip airline tickets from Alaska Airlines.

Regardless of your fundraising efforts, everyone in the walk will have the chance to win prizes from unannounced pop-up competitions along the walk route. The day will be even more fun with post-walk activities. These include entertainment, a petting zoo, a bounce house, face painting and snacks from the Taco Time Traveler and other vendors. You'll also get to hear firsthand how a wish impacted the life of a local child.

How To Help Make-A-Wish

If you'd like to take part in the walk, you can choose to register on-site the day of the event or register online ahead of time. Those who can't make it to the walk can still help the event meet its fundraising goal by donating to a participant.
