The Perfect Things For College Kids To Donate

August 7, 2017

Every year when August rolls around, kids are getting anxious to get back to school and see all their friends. For some, it is their freshman year of college and they are trying to figure out what they should bring to school and what should be left behind. A lot of the things that are left behind will never be used again. Here is what you can do with all those unused items.

Vehicle

This is always a touchy subject for the first year of college. Should you bring the car, or should you leave it at home? Most schools require you to live on campus for at least the first year of school and most students use campus food plans the first year as well. So there is no need to have your car with you. This will get you to branch out and meet more people because you will be on campus more.

If you plan on leaving your car home and it is not reliable anymore, a great option is vehicle donation. This allows your parents to have more room in the garage or driveway. A fantastic organization to donate your unused vehicle to is Wheels For Wishes. Our vehicle donation program benefits kids through your local Make-A-Wish chapter. You can click on our charity locator and see what Make-A-Wish chapter we support near you.

Once you are ready to donate, you can fill out our easy online donation form or call us at 1-855-278-9474. You will receive a call within 24 hours of the next business day to schedule your free vehicle pickup. Once your vehicle is towed away you will receive your tax-deductible receipt in the mail.

Clothes

When moving out of your parents’ house and into a much smaller place with a tiny closet, you realize you don’t need all those clothes you had in high school. If this is you, and you feel like it all looks too young to fit in with the college crowd, you can donate the mound of unused clothing to local charities and some even do curb side pickup. This will help make room for all the new clothing you will want and keep you from bringing too much to school with you.

You will realize that all the materialistic things you had to have in high school don’t mean as much to you once you graduate. Once classes start and you get up and get ready before class every day, you realize no one really cares what designer or outfit you’re wearing, and sweats end up being the best and most comfortable option.

Make the start of this new chapter of your life a charitable one.
