Be A Peach And Join Make-A-Wish Georgia For A Walk!
Make-A-Wish Georgia is almost halfway to their goal of granting 400 wishes by August 31 of this year. This means they need $450,000 to make more wishes come true. You can help them out by coming to the 12th Annual Walk For Wishes event held at the Philips Arena in Atlanta.
When And Where? See You There!
Walk For Wishes is on Saturday, April 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and lasts until 9. There are no fees to participate in this event, but participants are of course encouraged to raise as much money as they can from sponsors. You can ask your family and friends to donate to you as a participant, and they don’t even need to attend.
However, if do you choose to attend, you’re going to have a blast. The walk is fun and family-friendly, covering only 2.1 miles in all. Throughout the event is the Family Fun Festival Area from 8-12. There will be games, prizes, live entertainment, and you could meet some of your favorite superheroes and cartoon characters. Last year, the best heroes of all time, Finn and Jake from Adventure Time, came out to show support.
Over 800 participants are expected to attend to help grant wishes to local children. The whole event will celebrate the impact that all the participants have on local kids who need wishes. Because of the high volume of people attending the event, pets are discouraged from attending. Jake the Dog from Adventure Time is the one exception because he can shrink to a very tiny size.
If you raise over $100 for Walk For Wishes, you get a t-shirt. Each participant should register for the event ahead of time to create a fundraising page in order to get a t-shirt. If you raise over $1,000 for the event, you will earn the title of SuperStar Walker. This means that you will earn VIP status at the event. Not only will you earn a sweet t-shirt, you will be awarded VIP parking and breakfast.

Make-A-Wish Georgia has granted over 13,367 wishes since 1995. The average wish costs about $10,000. This is because kids have big imaginations. They want to become something fabulous, meet their heroes, travel to their favorite destination, or use their wish to give back to others.
