For more than 30 years, Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada has been helping children with life-threatening medical conditions. They’ve accomplished so much in that time, helping to grant more than 5,000 wishes. You can help them grant many more when you attend the 2015 Wishmaker’s Ball in Modesto on Feb. 28.
The Wishmaker’s Ball is one of Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada’s signature events each year. The event kicks off with cocktails and a raffle at 5:30 p.m., with dinner following at 6:30 and the program and Black Tie Bingo at 7:30. The event is held at the DoubleTree Hotel (1150 Ninth Street). There is valet parking available and the event is black-tie optional. Tickets for the event are $150 each and they can be purchased at the event’s website.
Help Make-A-Wish Grow
The Wishing Place in Sacramento is one of only four such places in the country, and the only one on the West Coast. The Wishing Place opened in 2009 and is a place where children can escape the rigors of their treatments and never-ending tests. The Wishing Place has become a reality. It is for a building created especially for wish children. The magic begins the moment a child enters the front door with a “Galaxy of Stars” that shines above with colored stars each commemorating a special wish child. The child then proceeds to “The Wishing Room” where wish decisions are made. After that, “The Wishing Tower” is opened and the dream begins.
When you attend The Wishmaker’s Ball and other Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada events, you help make the dreams that come from The Wishing Place a reality.
Help Make-A-Wish, Even If You Can’t Attend
There are ways you can help Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada, without going to the Wishmaker’s Ball. One way is to donate airline miles to help send Wish Kids and their families on their wish trips. Another way is to donate an unwanted vehicle to Wheels For Wishes benefiting Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada. Donating a vehicle helps kids in in Reno, Stockton and Sacramento. But it also saves you time and money that you would otherwise spend on getting rid of an unwanted vehicle. That unwanted vehicle will be transformed into a wish for a local child and gives you a great tax deduction at the same time. Wheels For Wishes is an IRS-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and your donation is 100 percent tax deductible. Your car can make a wish come true!
