If you knew granting wishes could be as easy as walking or running, would you do it? If you said yes, then it’s time to lace up your tennis shoes because it’s time to start walking or running to grant wishes for kids in your community! It’s as easy as that.
Grab Your Running Shoes
Whether you’re a runner or you prefer a nice walk, you can make a difference in the life of a child. When you attend the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin Walk & Run for Wishes on Saturday, August 24, you can play a huge part in the wish-granting process for Wisconsin kids battling a critical illness.
Runners can enjoy a timed 5K run for a $20 registration fee, and walkers can enjoy a non-timed event for $15. Child entry is $8. However, if you do not register ahead of time and choose to register on the day-of, registration fees will be $25 for the timed run, $20 for walking adults, and $10 for children. Register today as a team, family, or individual, or simply join an existing team!
Make sure you also ask people for pledges! If each participant asked ten people for $20, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin would raise half a million dollars in just a single day! This is enough money to grant wishes for 100 Wisconsin kids. Each participant who raises $150 or more is also eligible to win fun prizes!
A Day Filled With Fun
For a full day of fun, lace up your running shoes and head on over to Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee on August 24. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. with the opening ceremonies to follow at 9:30. Those participating in a wheelchair will start the run at 9:55 a.m., and the walk and run will begin at 10.
Stick around after the walk/run to enjoy post-event festivities from 11 a.m. until Noon. There will even be a free Mexican fiesta to follow from noon until 3 p.m. It’s sure to be a big hit!
Sponsor A Participant
If you are unable to attend the Walk & Run for Wishes, consider sponsoring a walker or runner. Simply enter the participant’s name and you can make a contribution in their honor!
Alternately, make a general donation to the Walk & Run for Wishes and your donation will help to grant wishes for kids in Wisconsin. Remember to spread the word so you can get your family and friends involved too!
Donate A Car
You can help grant wishes whether on foot or by car! If you choose to let your car do the wish-granting, consider donating an unwanted vehicle to Wheels For Wishes, benefiting Make-A-Wish Wisconsin. When you donate an unwanted vehicle to Wheels For Wishes, vehicles are picked up or towed away, at no charge to you, and they are either recycled and reused or auctioned off to a new owner. Earned proceeds from recycling or auctioning vehicles are then donated to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin. Plus, you get a great tax deduction at the same time! Car donation is a win-win for all.
To donate a car to Wheels For Wishes, please call 1-877-431-9474 or fill out our quick online vehicle donation form. Both methods only take a few moments of your time but can mean the world to a child with a wish. Whether you walk or run for wishes, have a blast at the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin Walk & Run for Wishes event!
