Supporters of Make-A-Wish in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, prepare yourself for a month filled with great events in May. Mark your calendars for four days of excitement. The first event is scheduled for May 4 in Altoona, Penn.; the second event will take place May 16 in Stroudsburg, Penn.; on May 17 the third event is scheduled for Pittsburgh, Penn.; and the final May event will take place on May 24 in Cambridge Springs, Penn. Each of these four events will give you the opportunity to fundraise for your local Make-A-Wish and Wish Kids in your community. By taking part in one, or all of these May activities, you will be helping Make-A-Wish Pennsylvania and West Virginia grant wishes to children with critical illnesses. Don’t wait, register today!

Bowl For Wishes In Altoona, May 4

Bowlers can take advantage of the first Make-A-Wish activity by registering for the Altoona Bowl For Wishes event which is scheduled to begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. (one hour after the Altoona Curve baseball game) on May 4. Bowlers will get to bowl two games with their favorite players from the Altoona Curve.

Make-A-Wish Pennsylvania and West Virginia was founded in May of 1983 and has granted more than 15,000 wishes during the last 31 years. Help the chapter continue to grow by taking part in this great bowling event May 4.

May 16 Wish Upon A Star Dance At Stroudsmoor Road, Stroudsburg

If you enjoy live entertainment and delicious food, you will really enjoy the Wish Upon A Star Dance at Stroudsmoor Country Inn at Terraview in Stroudsburg, Penn., beginning at 6 p.m. May 16. Entertainment by the Dick Halstead Trio featuring Judy Lincoln is scheduled to take place along with music by Flirtin’ with the Mob. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and includes roast sirloin of beef or chicken bianco vino.

The Pittsburgh 2014 Highmark Walk For A Healthy Community On May 17

If you have been running all winter long and are ready to take on a marathon, have just begun training and are working through that winter runner’s rust, or just want to enjoy a beautiful day in Pittsburgh while helping Make-A-Wish grant wishes, consider joining the Make-A-Wish team at their 2014 Highmark Walk For A Health Community event. The walk is scheduled for May 17, beginning at 9 a.m. with registration starting at 7:45 a.m. There will be 69 nonprofit organizations participating in the 2014 Highmark Walk For A Healthy Community including your local Make-A-Wish.

Registration for this event is free, but runners are encouraged to raise at least $25 for their cause. All registered walkers who raise or donate $25 will receive a Walk For A Healthy Community T-shirt and for every $50 that you donate, you will receive one ticket for raffle prizes valued at more than $1,000. All of the money raised at the event will contribute to the participating organization’s causes. Live entertainment, food and delicious snacks will be also be provided to all walkers. Stop by the Make-A-Wish booth for a chance to win a prize in a raffle.

The Eighth Annual Danielle Mitchell Memorial Poker Run, May 24

The weather has just started to get warm enough to enjoy taking your motorcycle for a spin. Now you can take part in a ride to help Make-A-Wish grant wishes in your community. Dust off your bike and gather with fellow riders on May 24 at 9 a.m. at American Legion Post 381, Cambridge Springs, Penn.
