Oregon’s Summer Wishes Helps A Child’s Wish Come True
What can be more fun than a summer evening of cocktails, great food, dancing and music? How about doing that AND raising money at the same time! That’s what will happen on Saturday, June 29 at the annual Make-A-Wish Oregon Summer Wishes.
Tickets cost $40 and include food, two drink vouchers, and dancing. Tickets can be purchased at the door – if still available – for $60 each. Summer Wishes is being held again at MotoCorsa, 2170 NW Wilson St. in Portland.
Summer Wishes is put on by the Make-A-Wish Oregon Junior Board, which is comprised of young professionals, volunteering to advance the mission of Make-A-Wish Oregon. These dedicated individuals represent many different companies, bringing fresh ideas and assistance to Make-A-Wish. The members agree to make annual personal contributions and support fundraising and event planning efforts.
There are four levels of sponsorships: Magical ($5,000), Schazaam ($2,000), Sparkle ($1,000), and Star ($500). If you are interested in helping to sponsor the event, email Caryanne Drake at email@example.com.
Help Wishes Come True
Last year’s Summer Wishes event raised nearly $37,000 to grant the wishes of local children. Every dollar raised stays in the community. A wish come true helps children feel stronger, more energetic, and more willing and able to battle their critical illnesses. For their doctors, nurses and other health professionals, the wish experience works in concert with their medicine to make their patients feel better, emotionally and even physically.
Recently, 8-year-old Atticus Lane famously got his Wish, with his youth soccer team taking on the professional Portland Timbers. Atticus scored four goals, including the game-winner, in a 10-9 win. Most impressively, was the 3,000 fans in support of Atticus and his team that were in the stands cheering.
