Three Opportunities To Walk For Make-A-Wish Wisconsin

Posted in Donate Car News, Thursday, July 17, 2014

Make-A-Wish Wisconsin is celebrating its 30th birthday this year, and they want you to celebrate with them at one of three Walk For Wishes events around the state later this summer. Best of all, it costs you NOTHING to register for the walks in Milwaukee, Fox Cities or Madison! That’s Make-A-Wish Wisconsin’s gift to you. All you need to do is help grant wishes by collecting pledges from your friends, family and co-workers.

Since 1984, Make-A-Wish Wisconsin has granted nearly 5,000 wishes and hopes to raise enough money to grant another 40 wishes from these walks. The more money raised from pledges from people like you, the more wishes can be granted and the more you’ll help children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

Milwaukee, Saturday, Aug. 23

The Milwaukee Walk For Wishes on Aug. 23 is at the north gate of the Henry W. Maier Festival Grounds. The event features a 5K or 1-mile walk, run or wheelchair race along Milwaukee’s scenic Lake Michigan shoreline. In order to receive a walk t-shirt, each participant must raise $75 or more. Registration is now available at the event’s website.

Fox Cities, Saturday, Sept. 6

The Fox Cities Walk For Wishes is held at the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans grounds in Appleton. There is a 5K or 1-mile walk that you can sign up for, and in order to receive a walk t-shirt, each participant must raise $50 or more. Registration is underway, so don’t hesitate to sign up and start raising money!

Madison, Sunday, Sept. 14

Registration is now open for the Madison Walk For Wishes at McKee Farms Park in nearby Fitchburg. You can help make wishes come true when you take part in the 5K, 1-mile or 2-mile walk, run, wheelchair race, kids’ dash and family fun day. In order to receive a walk t-shirt, each participant must raise $50 or more.

If you have any questions about any of the three events, you can contact dgroszczyk@wisconsin.wish.org or call 262-781-4445.

Can’t Make A Walk? Help Make-A-Wish In Other Ways

You can help grant wishes whether on foot or by car! If you choose to let your car do the wish-granting, consider donating an unwanted vehicle to Wheels For Wishes, benefiting Make-A-Wish Wisconsin. When you donate an unwanted vehicle to Wheels For Wishes, vehicles are picked up or towed away, at no charge to you, and they are either recycled and reused or auctioned off to a new owner. Earned proceeds from recycling or auctioning vehicles are then donated to Make-A-Wish Wisconsin. Plus, you get a great tax deduction at the same time! Car donation is a win-win for all.

To donate a car to Wheels For Wishes, please call 1-877-431-9474 or fill out our quick online vehicle donation form. Both methods only take a few moments of your time but can mean the world to a child with a wish. To learn more about the benefits of car donation, please visit our Benefits Of Used Car Donation blog post.

Whether you walk or run for wishes, have a blast at the Make-A-Wish Wisconsin Walk For Wishes events!
