Three September Events Will Benefit Make-A-Wish Illinois

If you like golfing, running or walking, mid-September offers you great opportunities to get out and take on any of those activities while helping Make-A-Wish Illinois at the same time. September offers the Make-A-Wish Golf Outing and two Walk & Run For Wishes events.

Make-A-Wish Golf Outing

Held this year at the prestigious Shoreacres in Lake Bluff, the Make-A-Wish Golf Outing is on Sept. 15. The event is a great way to entertain clients or reward co-workers while making a difference for children with life-threatening medical conditions, the day includes lunch, green fees, carts, caddie, cocktails and dinner. The cost is $7,500 per foursome, and you can contact, contact Kelsey Regan at 312-602-9430 for more information.

Walk & Run For Wishes In Champaign

On Sept. 19, come down to Hessel Park in Champaign for a day of fun. Registration starts at 8 a.m., followed by the 5k Fun Walk and Run at 9:30. Prizes will be awarded for best adult and youth costumes. To register, the General Registration fee is $30 per adult, $15 per student ages 18-22, and $10 per child 12 and under. Infants and toddlers are free. Wish Families can register for free too! If you can’t make it to the event, you can still support the event by registering as a virtual walker. After Sept. 5, an additional $5 will be added to each registration fee, so register today! Visit the event website for full details on registration, sponsorship and more.

The goal for the Champaign event is to raise $50,000, and University of Illinois basketball coach John Groce is challenging the Champaign community. The Groce family has issued a matching challenge of up to $5,000, and every team dollar raised up to that amount will be matched by their challenge.

Walk & Run For Wishes In Chicago

On Sept. 20, at Montrose Harbor along the shore of Lake Michigan in Chicago, this event kicks off with registration at 8 a.m., followed by the 5k fun walk and timed run at 9:30. Food and refreshments will be available starting at 9:30 until the event ends at 11. At this family-friendly event you can dress up as your favorite super hero or character, compete to get the fastest race time, and even bring your dog along for the fun.

All of the money raised through registration and sponsorships will go to Make-A-Wish Illinois. General registration is $30 per person, registration for children 10 and under is $10 per person, and children 2 and under are free. Registration on the day of the event is $40 per person. Wish Families can participate free of charge.

Teams which raise $6,000 or more have the opportunity to adopt the wish of a specific child in Illinois. In return, those individuals will get a commemorative frame that shares the child’s medical condition and wish experience. Your team also will get their own tent at the event.

Prizes will be awarded for the Top Individual Fundraiser, Top Team Captain Fundraiser, Best Adult costume, Best Youth costume, and even the Best Dog costume. For the 5k race, there is an award for the Best Men’s Time and the Best Women’s Time.
