Train For A Cause With Run For Wishes San Francisco
Marathons and triathlons are among the fastest growing sports in America today. As we get older and our waistbands begin to expand, many among us have found the urge to get out there and exercise! Now, there is a way for you to lose weight and help children gain hope at the same time. You can do this by taking part in the San Francisco Run For Wishes half-marathon training program instructed by Marathon Matt. The 12 week program will begin Nov. 16 with group training Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings and boot camp and speed workouts on Thursday evenings.
There is no ‘cost’ to join the Run For Wishes half-marathon training program, but Make-A-Wish is asking that all participants make a commitment to raise $1,300 ($100 per mile) for Make-A-Wish. With that commitment, runners will receive:
- A personalized fundraising page to make fundraising easy, along with fundraising support from the Make-A-Wish staff.
- A personalized training program.
- A T-shirt and fundraising recognition items.
- Clinics and seminars with PSOAS Massage+Bodywork, MV Nutrition, and more.
A team environment with more than 150 participants partaking in fun activities, including eating out and group runs.
Exercise Makes You Happy
It is clear that regular exercise can make you healthier, but did you know that it can also lead to a more positive outlook on life – leading to a happier life altogether! The benefits of working out are overwhelming. Exercise literally keeps your blood flowing smoothly and has been linked with preventing diseases like strokes, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, certain types of cancer, and arthritis, according to the Mayo Clinic Hospital. Physical activity also stimulates brain function and leaves you feeling both relaxed and happier. By exercising regularly you will have more energy throughout the day, sleep better at night, and you’ll be able to keep up with the young people in your life.
The Marathon Matt program is perfect for runners of all skill-sets. Matt provides individual workout plans to each runner and helps you progress through each stage of the 12 week program in a social setting. Whether you are new to San Francisco or a long-time resident, the Marathon Matt program is a great place to meet new people while also getting into great shape! You can get this individually designed program for free by committing to raise $1,300 for Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area.
Donations Help Make-A-Wish Provide Wishes
Every contribution to Make-A-Wish goes toward helping children with critical illnesses receive their wish and an enhanced sense of hope. Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area grants more than 350 wishes a year, all thanks to contributions from people like you. There are so many ways to give – whether it is making a monetary donation straight to Make-A-Wish, raising money while you train to run a half marathon, or just attending a Make-A-Wish evening ball or gala. You can also impact the life of a Make-A-Wish Wish Kid by donating a vehicle to Wheels For Wishes.
Wheels For Wishes benefits Make-A-Wish. All you have to do is donate that car, truck, SUV, ATV, motorcycle or boat that you no longer want or need – we pick it up and tow it away for free, provide the necessary paperwork so you can get your maximum tax deduction for the vehicle and turn that car into wishes through the Make-A-Wish chapter in your area. The process is simple, and the impact in a child’s life is huge!
You can donate a vehicle today by calling 1-877-431-9474 or filling out a vehicle donation form online. Or, take part in one of the many awesome events Make-A-Wish throws throughout the year, like this Walk For Wishes half-marathon training event which begins Nov. 16.
