If you’ve ever wondered who’d be a better pumpkin carver – a chef or a surgeon – you can find out at Make-A-Wish Colorado’s Pumpkin Carving for a Cause event. The event takes place Oct. 29 at the Colorado Springs Embassy Suites (7290 Commerce Center Drive) starting at 6 p.m. Not only will this event be a great family night, it will also benefit Make-A-Wish Colorado. Make-A-Wish Colorado was one of the first chapters in the nation. Since 1983, they’ve granted more than 4,200 wishes for children all over the state facing critical illnesses.
Halloween is one of the best holidays when you’re a kid, but not all children can enjoy it if they are facing medical treatments on Halloween. But you can help bring a smile to more kids’ faces this month by supporting Make-A-Wish at the inaugural Pumpkin Carving for a Cause event.
A Night Of Fun For All
Pumpkin Carving for a Cause has something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Kids can enjoy safe indoor trick-or-treating, while adults can take a break and enjoy grown-up drinks and a silent auction and raffle. The fun doesn’t stop with trick-or-treating though – the event features activities and treats for kids all evening! One of these great activities will be free face painting from Zanypaint Professional Face Painters.
The main event of course is the pumpkin carving contest that pits chefs against surgeons. Both professions are known for their nimble fingers, but the fun will be in seeing who’s best at turning a plain pumpkin into a masterpiece.
This event is open to the public and everyone is welcome! You’re free to come in costume or just as you are. Let the event organizers know you’re coming by emailing Chefs Vs. Surgeons at email@example.com. You can also email them any questions you may have.
Support Make-A-Wish Colorado In Other Ways
If you can’t make it to the Pumpkin Carving for a Cause event and still want to help them out this October, you have lots of options such as donating airline miles or your car. You can also make a general donation. If you’ve got unneeded airline miles, you can use them to help grant wishes. Since nearly 70 percent of wishes involve travel, every airline mile makes a difference! The Make-A-Wish Wishes in Flight program is a great way to put unused airline miles to good use.
Donating your car can help Make-A-Wish Colorado as well. At Wheels For Wishes, we turn your unwanted vehicle into wishes for Colorado kids by benefiting Make-A-Wish through our car donation program. We accept most makes and models of vehicles, whether they run or not. Donating is an easy way to get rid of a vehicle that’s taking up needed space. Plus, when you donate your vehicle you can stop paying out-of-pocket costs on it like maintenance, insurance, and gas. All you need to do is call 1-877-431-9474 or fill out an online vehicle donation form to get started. It’s as easy as that!
