Runners, walkers and rollers, get your comfortable shoes on! November is the month of charity walks in North Carolina. Enjoy the cooler fall weather by taking part in one or all of the three Walk For Wishes Make-A-Wish fundraising walks this November. Events take place Nov. 2 in Asheville, Nov. 9 in Concord and Nov. 16 in Clemmons.
Walk For Wishes is a fun and laid-back walk which celebrates hope and brings strength and joy to children facing life-threatening medical conditions, all while raising money to grant the wishes of those children through Make-A-Wish. The fundraiser is organized by wish families, volunteers, donors and friends. It is a wonderful opportunity to impact a Make-A-Wish Wish Kid’s life while also participating in a healthy activity.
The funds raised in these kinds of events has helped grant the wishes of children, sending them swimming with dolphins in the ocean, to Orlando’s many Disney resorts and has even helped one young girl meet her favorite singer, Justin Bieber. These wishes bring hope to a child’s life at a time when they need it most.
Asheville Looking To Kick Off Walk For Wishes Month With A Boom
Registration for the Asheville Walk For Wishes event will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2 with the walk beginning shortly thereafter at 10 a.m. Walkers will be enjoying a relaxed walk through Pack Square while helping to raise money for Make-A-Wish Central and Western North Carolina.
Pack Square was named in 1900 after the land for the park was donated to the city from George Pack. Along the path, walkers will see historical buildings from Asheville’s colorful past, civil war and other monuments, along with beautiful trees and flowers native to the Asheville region. Participants will be joining Make-A-Wish in helping to grant wishes to some of central and western North Carolina’s bravest children.
Charlotte Ready For A Massive Turnout At The ZMax Dragway
Participants are already buzzing in anticipation of the Charlotte Walk For Wishes event which is taking place at the ZMax Dragway in Concord this year. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the walk beginning at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9. The Zmax Dragway has been home to hundreds of races and is ready and set to go for the Walk For Wishes fundraiser.
The excitement for many participants goes hand-in-hand with walking on the ZMax Dragway, which has been used for national NHRA events and has been used by legends of the NHRA world such as “Big Daddy” Don Garlits, Shirley Muldowney, Kenny Bernstein and Connie Kalitta. That excitement is matched for participants by the idea of helping children in need through this great Make-A-Wish fundraiser. Every dollar raised at the event will go toward helping a child achieve their wish in the central and western region of North Carolina.
Winston-Salem Excited About A Sunset Walk
Scheduled as the only evening walk of the Walk For Wishes Central and Western North Carolina November events, the Winston-Salem walk has a little bit for everyone. The walk will take place in Clemmons with registration beginning at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, with the walk beginning just before sunset at 6 p.m. Sunset will be breathtaking over the thousands of unique trees and flowers that are scattered throughout the walking course in Tanglewood Park.
Home to the state-renowned Festival of Lights celebration during the winter holidays, Tanglewood Park was donated to Forsyth County in the 1950s. Before that, it was owned by horticulture lovers, who planted large rose gardens and a number of different species of pant-life on the property. Today, it is one of the most beautiful parks in all of North Carolina. Participants will walk along the scenic path while they empower and raise money to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Another Way To Fundraise Is As Easy As A Phone Call
These three walks will help to raise money to grant wishes throughout the Make-A-Wish Central and Western North Carolina region, but there are still more ways to give. If you can’t make a Walk For Wishes event or are looking for another way to contribute to the Make-A-Wish cause, consider donating a vehicle to Wheels For Wishes Central and Western North Carolina!
