Come See Big Rigs Benefit Make-A-Wish
Twenty-five years ago, a young man had the wish of riding in an 18-wheeler and speaking to his sister on a CB radio, and more than 40 trucks and drivers showed up. Every Mother’s Day since then, Make-A-Wish Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley hosts the Mother’s Day Truck Convoy. This year’s event is Sunday, May 11, at Burle Industries (1000 New Holland Avenue) in Lancaster (Rt.23).
This collection of trucks from across the United States converge at one location to help raise awareness and funds for Make-A-Wish Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley. It’s a day filled with fun for the entire family starting at 8:30 a.m. and all of the money raised stays local to help grant wishes. Over the years the number of trucks has grown to as many as 450 with more than 100 wish children as passengers. The event draws approximately 5,000 people that come to see the trucks, attend an auction, play games and enjoy good food.
This year’s event will feature great food with a chicken barbecue, live music, “Obie” and the Make-A-Wish Clowns, an auction, along with games and fun for all ages. Admission is free.
