Boxing may be considered a violent sport, but 911 Slugfest isn’t your ordinary night of watching two guys taking swings at each other. It’s an opportunity to come out and support Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.
The 911 Slugfest, which is on Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Tyndall Armory (711 N. Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis), is an amateur boxing competition between central Indiana’s police officers and firefighters. The police team and the fire team consist of 13 fighters, who strap on the headgear and boxing gloves and step through the ropes to fight for charity. The team with the most victories at the end of the night is the championship team.
While Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana is the ultimate winner, there is a lot on the line. Each fighter has to go back to the firehouse or back to the beat and face his peers. They are also fighting for possession of the “Staff of Champions,” the roving team trophy that the winning squad takes home. Pride, bragging rights and a custom championship ring are all on the line. Championship style fights with a championship style atmosphere makes for a great night of entertainment for friends and family.
Tickets Available At The Door
General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, and are available at the door of the Tyndall Armory. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the fights begin at 7 p.m. There is also special floor seating available from the event’s website. There’s also a VIP pre-party at The Elbow Room, 605 N.
