Four Exciting Events That Benefit Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia
This August there are four fun events that benefit Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia: the Franklin County Truck Convoy and Truck Show, the York County Scooter Ride, the Summer Mud Derby and 12th Annual Make-A-Wish Benefit, and finally, the Bikers United For Make-A-Wish 11th Annual Bike Show. These events all take place on the weekend of Aug. 16-17, so you may have a hard time picking just one to go to!
The Franklin County Truck Convoy and Truck Show
This event takes place on Aug. 16 at the B&M Diesel in St. Thomas, Penn. (6450 Lincoln Way W.) and starts at noon. In case of bad weather, the rain date is Aug. 23. The event starts with a parade of trucks and cool cars on their way to St. Thomas where there will be a car show and a truck convoy. The total convoy distance is 33 miles. In addition to the convoy and car show, the event also will have live music, face painting, balloon art, Kona Ice and food and drinks. Attendance for this event is free to the public! But better yet, all of the day’s proceeds and fundraising benefit Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
If you have a truck or car that you’d like to enter in the show and convoy, it’s just $50 to do so. This fee goes towards the funds for Make-A-Wish. When you enter, you may even see the impact of a wish in your own truck cab because Wish Families are invited to ride along with the convoy too! For more details on the convoy and show, contact Ernie Mellott at 717-729-5888.
The York County Scooter Ride
Also on Aug. 16, this event features a scooter ride followed by a flea market with lots of vendors. The event takes place in York, Penn. at the Renegade Classics (1721 Whiteford Road). Registration goes from 8-8:45 a.m. and is followed by the ride at 9-noon. The cost to take part in the ride is $20 for one rider or $30 for two riders. The ride ends at Action Motorsports (1881 Whiteford Road), where the flea market takes place from noon-3 p.m. The best part of the event is that 100% of the net proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia! For more information on the event contact Patty Mam at 717-870-4660 or Mike Mam at 717-870-9266.
Summer Mud Derby And 12th Annual Make-A-Wish Benefit
If you live near Smoke Run, Penn., come to the Summer Mud Derby. The event starts at noon on Aug. 17 and is sure to be a good time for anyone who wants to get muddy and have fun in a 4×4 race, all while helping Make-A-Wish. The cost of the event is $15 per adult. Following the event is a raffle and Chinese auction, all of which benefit Make-A-Wish. Contact Charles “Jay” Lewis at 814-378-5723 for more details.
Bikers United For Make-A-Wish 11th Annual Bike Show
Also on Aug. 17 in Parkersburg, W.Va., come to the Six Pence Pub & Eatery on 7th Street for this great motorcycle show. Hosted by Bikers United for Make-A-Wish, this event of course benefits Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Registration is from 1-3 p.m. and has a fee of $10 per motorcycle. The show runs from 3-5 p.m. Contact Michael Rowh at 304-481-0523 for more information.
Donate Your Vehicle To Make Wishes Come True
If your truck isn’t in good enough shape to run in the truck convoy, or your bike is well past its motorcycle show days, consider turning it into a wish for a local child by donating it to Wheels For Wishes, benefiting Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Even if your vehicle doesn’t run anymore, it can still give life to a child’s wish and bring them hope, strength and joy during a time when they need it most.
Wheels For Wishes doesn’t just accept trucks and motorcycles, though. You can donate a car, SUV, RV, or even a boat to make a wish come true! Wheels For Wishes accepts most makes and models, in any condition. Donated vehicles are either auctioned off to a new owner or recycled and 100% of the net proceeds go to Make-A-Wish. To make a donation, simply call 1-877-431-9474 or fill out a vehicle donation form online.
